The artwork "Patchwork" from 2011 was designed by Kiyasi at the entrance to the Tremoniapark in Dortmund Mitte. The work moves between a painted sculpture and a mural, the support of which is a concave, oversized concrete shell in the floor. While the outside of the bowl is kept in a reddish brown hue, colorful triangles, squares and pentagons on a white background cover the entire inside like a kaleidoscopic image. In addition to the polygons, which are mostly kept in shades of blue, the composition also features diamonds and trapezoids in the other primary and secondary colors, which move like glass splinters in the room. In terms of color and form, the geometric objects form a coherent unit. This is indicated not least by the title "Patchwork", by which the merging of individual pieces can be understood. The spatial representation is heightened by a kind of fading imprint of the individual forms, which appears next to the richly colored surfaces and acts like an echo. Photographs from Tremoniapark show the previous design of the concrete bowl in 2006 with a pattern similar to a kiwi fruit on a green painting surface. The concrete construction is reminiscent of the dished floors installed on the green areas in Tremoniapark. These cut, bowl-shaped steel objects were once components of pressure vessels for mining operations. The installation refers to the significant past of the site on which the Tremonia colliery was located next to an ironworks. The extent to which the work "Patchwork" refers to the former use of the site has not been proven - however, comparisons can certainly be made with the dished floors. Not only does the shape of the concrete shell resemble these industrial objects, but also the color design.
