                              Four venues are located under one roof: the large house, the small house, the chamber stage and the workshop. It was opened in 1910 and is therefore the oldest and largest theater in Freiburg.

                              The theater is a three-part theater. Hundreds of performances are presented every year by the opera, dance and drama ensembles and the choir and the Philharmonic Orchestra also give concerts.

                              The theater was badly damaged in the Second World War. Much of the original magnificent design was lost and was not renewed in detail. In 1998 the theater was renovated and rebuilt.
