The Bodenmöser nature reserve was established to protect one of the largest examples of pre-alpine bog complexes. Numerous animals feel at home in the large raised, intermediate and low moors, and the diverse flora makes for a wonderful landscape. There are several moor and heath areas, the most important being Eisenhammermoos, Riedmüllermoos, Rotmoos and Hasenmoos. The rich flora and fauna of the Bodenmöser also includes rare species such as adders and marsh grasshoppers, and there are also bog trefoil and reed grass.
