It is the only suspension bridge over the Saale.

Originally a practical connection to cross the Saale and thus bring the two villages of Großeutersdorf and Kleineutersdorf "closer" together. It also made it easier for farmers to access the farmland.

The first construction plans for the Eutersdorf swing bridge were made in 1870. However, it could not be built until 1907/1908. The river suspension bridge was built in a very classic way. There is a bridge access on both sides. The middle part of the bridge is the actual suspension bridge with a span of an impressive 56 meters.

The suspension bridge has 9 meter high metal pylons on both sides, which are mounted on concrete bases. The supporting cables were attached symmetrically and anchored in concrete foundations at the bridge entrances. As was common in the past, some metal parts were riveted (not screwed). The cost-effective option with wooden beams was chosen as the walkway.

The amount of adrenaline you get when crossing the Eutersdorf suspension bridge is certainly not particularly high. But its pleasing appearance, tangible cultural history and pleasant swaying make this suspension bridge an experience worth walking on and seeing.
