    Located on a terp, we find this Romanesque church from the 13th century with a much younger, namely neo-Gothic bell tower from 1895. Thanks to this, the Bagbander church is one of the highest churches in East Friesland. But the life-size crucifixion group from the 15th century in the chancel is also of immense size. The well-preserved baptismal font from the 13th century is also impressive in the church, which was originally consecrated to the name of St. Barbara.
    Today the congregation, which also includes Spetzerfehn and Neuemoor, with 650 members (2014) is one of the smallest Lutheran congregations in the Aurich parish.

        Originally, there was a bell tower to the north-west of the church, which housed Bagband's three bells. By the end of the 19th century, this tower had become so dilapidated that it could no longer be used. The church council at the time decided to tear down the old bell tower and replace it with a new, slim, 50-meter-high neo-Gothic church tower on the west gable. The church tower was completed in 1895 and has been a landmark of Bagband ever since.
