A representative building from the Wilhelminian period, located on the Obermarkt square, of urban significance, with a prominent town hall tower as a landmark of the city. The entrance is flanked by figural reliefs, of local and architectural significance. The round-arched niche portal of the old town hall (marked 1571) was relocated to Stadthausstraße. The architect was city architect Karl Otto Richter (with the collaboration of Hugo Licht, Leipzig).
Three-story building, two striking curved gables, irregular floor plan, main portal with a pointed arch and two pilasters with male figures in half-relief, and two resting putti above the cornice.
