‘Otter Point’ is the name of the peninsula in the southeast of ‘Mount Desert Island’; the southern tip of the peninsula bears the same name. On the west side of the peninsula you have a wonderful view over ‘Otter Cove’ with the two mountains Cadillac and Dorr Mountains in the background.
Access to ‘Otter Point’ is via the ‘Ocean Path’, which ends here, and parking spaces along the ‘Park Loop Road’ in the immediate vicinity.

The Otter Point Overlook is a popular sunrise location which looks eastward to the open Atlantic and westward across the Otter Cove towards Blackwoods Campground. The overlook marks the southwestern end of the family-friendly Ocean Path trail. Visitors should exercise caution when on the rocks off the trail, which may be slippery at times.
