Veliki vrh is the westernmost 2,000-meter peak in Košuta; on the north and northwest sides it falls steeply in the rock walls towards Zgornji Kot in Carinthia, on the south-east side it descends in grassy slopes towards the mountain Kofce and Gebnov potok, and towards the southwest it stretches the rocky, ragged ridge of Zajmen furnaces towards Šentanska dolina. Due to the relatively easy access from Kofc, Veliki vrh is the most visited peak in Košuta.

The view from Veliki vrh (and also other peaks) is extremely beautiful. In the north, there are extensive forested slopes in Kot, behind which Grlovec rises; in the distance the High Towers are shown. To the east we see the entire ridge of Košuta, Obir, Peca and Olševo. The Kamnik and Savinja Alps rise in the southeast. In the south, below us is the mountain Kofce, further we see Kriška gora, part of the Gorenjska plain towards Bled, Ratitovec, Jelovica, Spodnja Bohinjska gora. Towards the southwest, below us is the Šentanska valley with Podljubelj, above it Dobrča, and on the horizon is the magnificent backdrop of the Julian Alps with Triglav. To the west, above the Šentanska valley, is Begunjščica, then Vrtača and Stol, and nearby is the nearest neighbor, the pointed Košutica.

Veliki vrh is the first, most popular summit of the long range Košuta, going from the west. As the western part of Košuta is closer to the traffic connections across Karavanke/Karawanken range, the popularity is obvious. In Slovenia there are many toponymes with the name of 'Veliki vrh' (= Big Summit)
