The main storage facility has an area of 116 hectares and a storage volume of around 10 million cubic meters. The length and width of the reservoir are approx. 1.2 km. The main dam is 800 m long and 32.5 m high.

The Förmitztalsperre, the Förmitzspeicher or Förmitzsee is a dam that was completed in 1977. The dam serves to raise the low water level in the Saxon Saale.
