Amazing track for mountain biking or gravel riding. As soon as you leave the road it feels like you're in the middle of nowhere and miles from anywhere. The views across the rocky outcrops of Derwent edge are truly stunning.

The whole of this section is paved with stone slabs. Off this path it can be very boggy.

Very exposed on the whole of the path between Foulstone road and the end of Dukes road. Only a very view stones to shelter by.

Navigation is really easy across here but it is really hard to see where the path ends and the bridleway starts. Very little change in height. Remote with stuning views.

On a gravel bike I reckon it's best to approach this south to north, starting at Back Tor. This way you get all of the slabbed path out of the way first. The slabs aren't so difficult to ride but they're really hard going on your wrists and forearms and pretty jarring on the lower back - I ended up riding most of it out of the saddle.
Once the slabs are over the track turns into a wide gravelly /sandy track that's very rideable and worth enduring the slabs for. The moorland views are fantastic and it feels very remote even though you're only a couple of miles away from Bradfield.
