The church was inaugurated in 1901, it is built in pure neo-gothic style.
It was then built so large that all Protestants from the Trubachtal from Pretzfeld to Oberzaunsbach and from the mountains on the left and right, from Buckenreuth to Seidmar fit into it. The Bavarian state has borne the building burden and so also the Protestants here have an imposing church, which they can be proud of.
In the 1980s, the church was in danger of collapse, threatening to slide its tower down the mountain. After some discussion, it was decided - again with the help of the state building authority - to preserve the church.
Today, 40-60 members of the congregation gather for the "normal" worship services, well filled at Christmas, for confirmation on "White Sunday", for the church fair, at the Ascension concert of the trombone choir and at many a funeral.

The Matthew Church is open from April to October daily from 9:00 to 18:00,
from November to March on Sundays from 9:00 -18: 00.
