The Goldene Höhe mountain inn was founded in 1844 as a simple refreshment stop on the summit of the Gohilg. The tenant Friedrich Traugott Baum later expanded it into a wooden house with a wonderful view. In 1864 a larger building with a hotel and restaurant was built. For many decades, the Golden Heights was a well-known and popular destination. After the cessation of passenger traffic on the Windbergbahn, the number of visitors decreased and the inn was closed in 1965. The building complex was officially closed in 1967 and later demolished. Nature has reclaimed the site

The path leads moderately upwards along old fruit trees, elderberry and rose bushes to the Gohlig hill. The more we gain height, the more impressive the view of Dresden between the Radebeul vineyards on the left and the highest Dresden elevations, the Triebenberg (384 meters) and the Borsberg (361 meters) on the right hand. Further to the east we can see mountains of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and the Tanzplan mountain in Bohemia when the visibility is good. We have reached the 345 meter high Gohlig, also called the Goldene Höhe (5). The name goes back to the Sorbian term for "bare, unwooded height". In the shadow of some mighty chestnuts and oaks stands a land surveying point built in 1865 on the hilltop - the "Nagelsche Column". It was made on site from sandstone, the base rock of this dome, and is around four meters high. Between 2001 and 2006 it was restored by the Saxon Heritage Protection Association, Regional Group Goldene Höhe.

Except for 2 stone pillars, nothing remains of the once so well-known and popular "Ball-Establishment" on the Golden Heights. I think that with the cancellation of the Windbergbahn, many visitors were withdrawn from the innkeepers and so it had to be closed in 1965. If no one does anything in an older building, decay is quickly inevitable. Too bad, only pictures in such a place with a wonderful view at the top.
