Visible from afar from the north, east, and west, Zeitz's landmark rises from the city skyline. The town hall tower, which was only added with the extension (1905-1909), is 52 meters high. The climb is worthwhile. You get a unique view over the city's rooftops, and on a clear day, you can even see as far as the Battle of the Nations Monument in Leipzig. But it is only one part of the unique town hall complex.

During a bombing raid on November 30, 1944, parts of the south and west wings of the extension were hit, damaging, among other things, the city council chamber. Today, the magnificently furnished Peace Hall, the Gothic hall, and the former rooms of the Zeitz mayors can be visited as part of a town hall tour.
