Fortunately, there are also several fountains along the way, should the drinking bottles be empty too early due to the continuous incline of 10-14%.
Only on the last 3 km of the route does the gradient ease and you roll a little easier at 4-8%. The surface is mostly good, only in the upper section there are some somewhat weathered spots (09/2021).
Those who are compatible with gravel can drive from the Erlenbacher Hütte over an approx. 1.5 km long forest road to the Stollenbacher Hütte and make a round trip that crosses the pass.
