In 1477, Archduke Sigmund finally moved the princely mint from Merano to Hall in Tirol: The Hall Mint Museum and the Hall in Tirol Mining Museum tell of these times today.
In the middle of Hall's old town you will find the Upper Town Square. All around it are the tower of Hasegg Castle with the Hall Mint, a landmark of the town that can be seen from afar, the town hall and the Gothic parish church of St. Nicholas. This square is considered one of the most beautiful inner-city squares in Austria. Then there is the Stiftsplatz with the Sacred Heart Basilica and the All Saints Church, which is the first baroque church in North Tyrol. Small shops and cafés in the middle invite you to take a rest in the sun. Hall has also been a university town since 2004.
