The Vincheto di Celarda Nature Reserve, managed by the Carabinieri Biodiversity Department of Belluno, is a protected oasis of international importance located on the right bank of the Piave river. Established in 1971, it includes 92 hectares of wetlands with stagnant and running water, riparian woods, meadows, shrubs. Inside there is a plant for the breeding of marble trout, an equestrian center for the training of horses, fences and aviaries where captive animals from recovery centers are welcomed, including deer, roe deer, fallow deer, buzzards. and golden eagles. The numerous paths that cross the reserve lead to the discovery of a rich vegetation in which willows, alders, poplars, elms and ash trees, hornbeams, oaks, maples and lime trees stand out. Inside the fauna is also very rich: eight species of amphibians, among which, the most common and abundant, is the hybrid ditch frog. Then there are the southern dotted newt, the green toad, the yellow-bellied toad, the Italian tree frog, the fire salamander, the common toad and the agile frog. The proximity of the river environment makes the Vincheto di Celarda an attractive oasis also for birds, with as many as 45 species that nest inside. Among these the goosander, the eagle owl, the quail, the saltimpalo and the screech. Regular appearances are the black kite, the buzzard, the crested tit but if you are lucky you may also spot the honey buzzard, the sparrow hawk, the water rail, the canapino). Open every day from 08.00 to 18.00.
