The Jänschwalde parish is one of the oldest parishes in the Cottbus area and was mentioned in a document as early as 1346. The village church, however, dates from the 19th century.
It was built in 1806 as a classical hall building made of plastered brickwork with a hipped roof. There are semicircular upper windows above the rectangular windows.
There is a wooden bell house next to the church. The bell is remarkable. The three bronze bells are among the oldest in the Cottbus church district. The largest bell was cast in the 15th century, the middle bell bears the year 1515 in an inscription and the third bell dates from 1596.
The interior of the church is very simple. The flat church ceiling is plastered. On the east side there is a pulpit altar with a pilaster structure. There are galleries on all other walls. On the west gallery there is a small organ from the Sorau Heinze company from around 1900. The baptismal bowl is from 1646. The stalls are from the construction period.
