Freeride tour with three challenging single trail descents. Usually S1 is required here, the most difficult parts are at S2. There are some steep trail sections.
If the plan works out, this tour will be outdated as soon as it is released. After various conversion work, this plan provides for the cable car on the Gaislachkogel to transport mountain bikers up to the summit station again. A fourth descent will join the three freeride trails described here. Then with a net loss of altitude of 1700 meters.

This already existed in 2008/2009. At that time, the Gaislachkogel Trail was one of the freeride flagships of the Ötztal. However, due to some geological problems, extensive renovation work was required at the mountain station and the trail was no longer passable for a few years. But as I said: in the summer of 2014 this should be a thing of the past.

In the meantime, the three trails described here also provide a lot of freeriding fun. Flowing passages alternate with challenging sections. Every now and then you are confronted with steps and roots. Sometimes the trails are quite direct, so that you will be stuck on the brakes in the steep passages.

Ambitious freeriders with plenty of travel on the fork will not be bothered by this. However, anyone who wants to have fun on these trails should have good riding technique. The freeride lines on the Gaislachkogel are not among the beginner-friendly trails in the Ötztal.
