    The Basilica of San Giacomo is in Bellagio on Lake Como. It was built between the 11th and 12th centuries. When it was raised to the status of priory in 1657, it was remodeled in Baroque style inside and out, and remained so until the first decades of the 20th century, when it was remodeled and kept in its original style has been restored. It was declared a National Monument by ministerial decree in 1904.

        It has a rectangular floor plan with three naves and a bell tower, which is attached to the left of the façade. The bell tower was built in the 17th century by adding more storeys and remodeling a defensive tower in the northern part of the city wall, which reached approximately to the height of the church roof. The bell tower acquired its present appearance during the 18th-century renovations. Like the rest of the church, it remained plastered until restoration work in 1990.
