The special location of the Stüler Church is Reitwein's trademark. The tower of the church rises proudly on the slope of the Reitweiner Spur. It is not the first church to be built on this site. Already in the Middle Ages, after permission to build a church was first granted in 1414, a predecessor building was erected here. In the middle of the 19th century, the congregation no longer fit into the small church and so Rudolf Count Finck von Finckenstein decided to commission the "king's architect" Friedrich August Stüler with a new building. The equipment of the previous church was partly taken over. On August 25, 1858, the neo-Gothic brick building was consecrated. During the fighting in the last weeks of World War II, the church got caught between the fronts. Only a ruin remained of her, which thanks to the personal commitment of the pastor H.-G. Rieger, together with the parish council, narrowly escaped being blown up in the 1970s. Today the church ruins are used in many ways. In addition to church celebrations - when the weather is nice, golden confirmations and weddings take place here - popular secular events such as the Reitwein Summer Music Festival, Mother's Day concerts and the Christmas market have also become established.
