        In the nature reserve "Heidemoore" lies the eastern Galgenvenn, a heather bog that was endangered by drying out. Thick bushes formed, which further promoted the desiccation.         The aim was to permanently remove the bushes and rushes. Care was taken to ensure that the remaining valuable plant stocks are spared and spared. This method has already proven itself in the more southern heather moors. For this purpose, mappings were carried out in advance in the area in order to precisely determine the locations of the plants.
        In this way, the less competitive wet heather and bog species such as sundew and cotton grass can develop optimally again and the nutrient input and water evaporation are also reduced. Moor frogs, little grebes and dragonflies also find a home again in the resulting open waters.
        The trees in the adjacent forest areas were cleared and the bracken was mowed. This makes the edge of the moor grailable and can be included in the sheep grazing in the district of Viersen, as a cost-effective maintenance. The work was completed at the end of 2012. Now the moorland is open again and surrounded by light forest.
