The Hüttenkanal is a canal just over three kilometers long, dating from 1881. It runs in the far north of Brandenburg and connects the Rheinsberg waters with the rest of the Neustrelitz Kleinseenland.

However, there are differences between old and new maps regarding the names of the canals in this area. On newer maps, only the section between Schlabornsee and Tietzowsee is referred to as the Hüttenkanal. This section is also called the Jagowkanal. The town of Zechlinerhütte is located on the eastern bank of the canal.

The canal between the Großer Prebelowsee and Kleiner Pälitzsee near Kleinzerlang, on the other hand, is called the Prebelowkanal, sometimes also the Wolfsbrucher Kanal. On the Prebelowkanal, a water level difference of about 40 centimeters is overcome by the Wolfsbruch lock. The Kleiner Pälitzsee is higher than the Rheinsberg waters. The name 'Hüttenkanal' (glassworks canal) comes from the numerous glassworks in the Rheinsberg area, whose products were transported via the canal.

A beautiful hiking trail leads directly along the canal from the Wolfsbruch lock to the Kleiner Pälitzsee. There are also some footbridges and benches - but all marked "Private. Use prohibited." signposted.
