From the car park above the residential building to 250 m above sea level, at the former, geologically interesting quarry, leads a one-hour circular walk on and around the mountain. There are shelters and benches at lookout points. Sightlines free of vegetation allow a view into the surrounding landscape, to the Eggegebirge and in good weather also to the Weserbergland. Over the Steinberg also runs the 18 km long trail Sachsenring, around the Driburger valley.
