Built around 1350 by order of Margarethe "Maultasch", the last Countess of Tyrol, the castle was owned by several Tyrolean noble families for six centuries until Archduke Johann of Austria acquired it in 1845 as the residence of his descendants, the Counts of Meran . Regular tours accompany you through an eventful history, through the originally preserved and furnished rooms and through a castle that is still privately inhabited and run by the family of the current owner, Count Franz von Meran.

Are dogs allowed on the walking paths and trails near Schenna Castle?

Generally, dogs are welcome on most public walking paths and hiking trails in the Schenna area, provided they are kept on a leash. However, specific rules may apply to certain nature reserves or private properties. It's always advisable to check local signage. How long do typical walks around Schenna Castle take?

The duration of walks around Schenna Castle varies greatly depending on the chosen route and your pace. Short, scenic loops around the village and castle can take as little as 30 minutes to an hour. It's an excellent choice if you're looking to combine cultural exploration with active outdoor pursuits.
