    The Sachsenbrücke (officially got its name in 1901), connects the Clara Zetkin Park (formerly King Albert Park) with both parts. It is car-free, and therefore well suited for cyclists, joggers and pedestrians.

              Its name was given to the bridge in memory of the change of sides of the Saxon troops by Napoleon Bonaparte to the allies during the Battle of Leipzig in 1813. Official, however, this name was not until November 7, 1901.
              The first building on the same site was built in 1897 for the Saxon-Thuringian industrial and commercial exhibition. The bridge in its present execution was created in 1928 after a broadening of the Elster flood bed.

                  The pedestrian and cycle bridge over the Elster floodbed in Clara Zetkin Park is a popular meeting place, especially for young, sometimes even crazy and eccentric people.

                  It is located southwest of the city center and connects the two parts of Clara Zetkin Park, as well as from the city center to western Leipzig. Together with Anton Bruckner Allee, it allows pedestrians and cyclists to cross the Elster floodbed without having to pay attention to Leipzig city traffic, which is not permitted here.

                  The Sachsenbrücke is also a popular meeting place for Leipzig residents to enjoy the nature and atmosphere of the adjacent Clara Zetkin Park with other Leipzig residents.
