    Georg Kolbe created this fountain between 1929 and 1930, which was dedicated to the memory of Foreign Minister Walther Rathenau, who was murdered in 1922, and his father Emil Rathenau, the founder of AEG. Volkspark Rehberge in Berlin-Wedding.

    In 1985/87, the current fountain and the two bronze reliefs were created as replicas by the sculptor Harald Haake. The originals were melted down in 1934 to make a replica of the Schiller monument.

      The Rathenau fountain stands at the highest point of the Volkspark. The original monument by Georg Kolbe for the brothers Emil and Walther Rathenau was erected in the Volkspark in 1930 after a long planning phase, after Reich Foreign Minister Walter Rathenau was murdered by right-wing radicals in 1922.

      In 1934, the Nazis had the monument to the Jewish brothers removed, and it was not until 1987 that the Rathenau fountain was restored and inaugurated by sculptor Harald Haacke.

      The abstractly designed fountain caused confusion at the time and was popularly called the "control screw". The spiral shape of the bronze fountain body is intended to symbolize an important part of a turbine, in reference to the founders of the AEG (Allgemeine Elektrizitäts-Gesellschaft), the brothers Walter and Emil Rathenau.

        At the center of the Rehberge Public Park stands Georg Kolbe's Rathenau Fountain. It was built and inaugurated in the fall of 1930. It was dismantled for political reasons in July 1934 and reconstructed in 1987 by sculptor Harald Haacke based on photographs. A spiral rises from the fountain's round bowl, widening towards the top. Portrait reliefs of the Rathenau brothers are mounted on pedestals on either side of a staircase. The fountain is not in use.
