The wreck of the barge "Uwe" has been here on the Falkensteiner Ufer since 1975. At that time, two freighters collided in thick fog. One of the damaged persons had just overtaken the "Uwe", after the collision the freighter turned and crashed directly into the "Uwe". A sailor drowned in the accident. At the time there was a salvage company directly on the shore that dragged the two halves of the "Uwe" to the beach. The stern stayed in the water because it was very heavy. The city later bought the site and left the wreck in the silt as a kind of breakwater.
