The municipal Johannisfriedhof cemetery is located on the eastern slope of the Kahler Berg, which is part of the Teutoburg Forest. In addition, the rich old trees testify to the then generous facilities. Especially in the so-called "Arboretum" the visitor will find a variety of old rhododendrons, Thuja and Chamaecyparis species. To preserve these plants, the Arboretum 1986 was decommissioned.

Often the Johannisfriedhof is used as a welcome place for a walk because of its adjacent location to the botanical garden and the animal park Olderdissen and the proximity of the city forest.
