The Certosa was built in 1456. When the community was suppressed in 1768, it was transformed into a farm. In the Land Registry of 1847 the assets were still used for agricultural practices and part of the artefacts were classified as a ruined convent. In 1882 the Certosa was rebuilt, partly recently restored, as it appears today. In 1977 the monks were transferred to other locations and the Certosa welcomed a community of cloistered nuns.

The Certosa di Vedana which rises at the foot of the mountain of the same name, is a vast complex of buildings whose architectural standards are those that roughly govern the construction of all the Charterhouses and therefore recall something of the fortress and the castle.
The place, restful and peaceful, is an oasis of gardens and meadows. Since 1155 there was the Hospice of San Marco di Vedana transformed into a Certosa in 1456. Increased by the large cloister in 1521, it was suppressed by the Republic of Venice in 1768 and later recovered by the French Carthusians. Until 1977 it hosted a community of Carthusian monks while today it hosts a community of cloistered nuns.
