The 45-metre-high Nikolaiturm is part of the former city fortifications of Görlitz.[1] It is located in the oldest part of the city and borders directly on the Nikolaivorstadt. Together with the Fat Tower and the Reichenbach Tower, three of the four defensive towers of Görlitz have been preserved.

As part of the Görlitz city fortifications, the Nikolaiturm is located between the Nikolaivorstadt and the old town of Görlitz.
