      The Seychelles palm is an endemic palm species that occurs only in the Seychelles, more precisely: on the two islands Praslin and Curieuse. Crisscrossing the thickets of giant fan-shaped leaves, which shelter from the sun and rain like a roof, the slender sea-nut palms stretch vertically upwards. The long and slow life cycle of the sea nut also makes it something very special. It only takes months for it to germinate on the ground and for more than a year until the first leaf unfolds. Every new leaf needs another year. The heart-shaped, pumpkin-sized nuts of the Coco de Mer can weigh up to 18 kilos. They are the largest seeds in the plant kingdom.
