There are two ways to reach the Parpaner Rothorn: either by taking the cable car or by embarking on a challenging and strenuous hike. If you choose the latter option, you'll need sturdy footwear. Surefootedness and a head for heights are also beneficial on the ascent, ensuring you reach the summit safely. Next to the cable car station, there's also a panoramic restaurant where you can recharge with fine dining after a strenuous hike.

Two weeks ago, 20 teenagers and I went to the Parpaner Rothorn. We had initially planned to hike from Scharmoin to the right towards the waterfall and then on to the summit. Fortunately or unfortunately ;-) the path was closed (due to construction work), so we ended up walking from the Rothorn valley station up to the Weisshorn speed cable car and then towards the Rothorn. A total of between 600 and 700 meters of elevation gain. We had lunch on the terrace at the mountain station and then relaxed and took the cable car back down towards the valley station. The way up from the speed cable car is quite easy. Some of the steeper slopes are marked with yellow tape. Overall, it was a lovely tour, and the cable cars provided plenty of variety for the kids.
