The Boesdal limestone quarry is a very interesting area.
In the 1920s, the inhabitants of Stevns began with the lime mining in Boesdal limestone quarry. Today, there are still traces of that time, when you were mining and processing lime in Boesdal. Lime was burned in the two ovens on the edge of the limestone quarry, and the 20 m high and 60 m wide pyramid was used to store broken and dried lime.
In the 1970s, the limestone quarry was shut down. Today the site is used for cultural activities and you can stay in a shelter.
In the northern part of the limestone quarry you can study the geology of Stevns Klint and you can clearly see how the layers of cliffs continue inland.
The abandoned Boesdal limestone quarry is an interesting recreation area with a wealth of Aktivitätsmöglichkeiten.Der beach is accessible from the quarry. He is very rocky here and not suitable for swimming.
In the limestone quarry there are two shelters and a fireplace, which can be used free of charge. Setting up a tent next to the shelters is also allowed.
