    Of all the trails that lead to the highest peak of the Harz, the Heinrich-Heine-Weg is in my opinion the most beautiful. The famous poet chose this route in 1824. The scenic route leads on winding forest paths through the Ilsetal to the Ilsefälle and further up to the Brocken. The ascent to the Brockenkuppe is quite worthwhile, because the view is, in good visibility, simply spectacular.

      From Brocken you can reach the Ilse via an adventurous and rugged ravine.
