                          An old quarry that has filled with water over the years. In the resulting lake, a biodiversity of its own has developed, including the rare freshwater jellyfish in addition to various types of fish. The view of the Lichtenberg Castle from the cliffs on the northern part of the lake is phenomenal. The steep climb is definitely worth it.

                                              The lake came as a complete surprise. Yes, it sounds silly, but despite our planned hike, we hadn't even considered it. At first, we were wondering what those signs were all about, right in the middle of a dirt road, on the edge of a mountain, saying swimming, camping, and fires were prohibited. A few meters further on, we finally knew what was happening when this amazing lake appeared through the bushes on our left. Definitely a stop if you're nearby! 🩵
