The pilgrim band is halfway from Einsiedeln to Schwyz. Shortly after Alpthal SZ the ascent to Haggenegg begins, with 400 meters of altitude to be mastered on a hiking trail in a changing landscape. At the highest point of the old, historic pass crossing there has been a chapel since 1700, which was built on the spot where an old stone cross was found at that time.

The location of the chapel in the immediate vicinity of the Little Myth is magnificent. It belongs to an ensemble of houses with an inn (with accommodation) and a farm. The view widens over the basin, Lauerzersee and Rigi. At 1414 meters above sea level, Haggenegg is the highest point on the Way of St. James north of the Pyrenees.

From here it goes 900 meters downhill on attractive footpaths to the main town Schwyz with the imposing parish church. From there it is five kilometers to Brunnen, where Lake Lucerne is crossed.
