Classic war memorial

As one of five monuments in the municipality of Blankenfelde, this object is a classic war memorial. Built a little south of the church and churchyard, it is still centrally located and accessible from all sides on the Blankenfelde village meadow.
The Blankenfeld war memorial is clearly taller than man and was built in several layers of field stones. Four panels commemorate the wars of liberation in 1813, when the Napoleonic army tried to conquer Berlin, and the First World War. Two of the plaques are dedicated to the victorious Battle of Blankenfelde on August 23, 1813, another to the fallen soldiers of the "Friedrich Netherlands Infantry Regiment" and a fourth commemorates this battle in general.

The dating of the first panel to July 1, 1913 shows that the memorial was donated at this time and only later was supplemented by the fallen of World War I - it was therefore originally a memorial of the wars of liberation.
