The royal Prussian chamberlain and district administrator of the Eschwege district, Alexander von Keudell (1861-1939), had the castle built between 1904 and 1907.
Then there were different owners:
During the Second World War, the castle was used from 1943 to 1945 as an auxiliary hospital for the Eschweger main hospital of the Wehrmacht, then briefly after the war by the American occupiers.
From October 1945 to 1947, the castle of the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA) served as a branch of the Eschweg camp for displaced persons, in order to take in orphaned Jewish children.
The Evangelical Church of Kurhessen Waldeck followed as further users, it served as a recreational home for mine apprentices from the Ruhr area, the federal border guard for police work. The Sannyasins, the Indian guru Bhagwan as ashram, who worked and taught there with over 100 people for many years.
After that, several hotel owners and restaurants changed to the present day. Weddings are now also possible.
