One of the most impressive features of the Allianz Arena is the facade lighting that was newly installed in 2014/15. The system makes the Allianz Arena Germany's first and Europe's largest stadium with all-round LED outdoor lighting for dynamic lighting moods. 1,056 of the 2,784 air cushions can be illuminated. This corresponds to an area of 26,000 m² or the part of the outer skin that is visible to fans and passers-by. Converted, the LEDs thus illuminate an area of around 3.5 playing fields. Instead of the previous three colors (red, blue, white), the new lighting can handle 16 million colors. This enables even the finest color nuances and gradients.
