A large-scale transformation of the Almtales took place at the end of the Würmeiszeit about 13,000 years ago by the late-glacial landslide in the Hetzau. In the process, about 0.5 km³ of rock material was released from the Büchsenkar of the Hochplattenkogel and filled the Hetzau and the Straneggbachtal up to the Almtal (for example in the area of the Gasthaus Jagersimmerl) with a Tomalandschaft.
