The tour to the Hochfeiler is long and exhausting. It's best to plan two days to climb the highest Zillertal summit and spend the night in the Hochfeiler hut. From here you have a great view of the high peaks of the Zillertal Alps.

The Hochfeiler Hut is very beautiful and in the right location on the way to the Hochfeiler. Unfortunately, there are no distant views yet, so you have to go further - although halfway to the summit you get a great view of the Dolomites.
The climb requires a certain level of surefootedness, but is not yet alpine difficulty (T2). The traverse to the direct route to the Hochfeiler has a few steep steps.
The hut was already closed on October 1st. However, there are 2 winter rooms, which meant that I was able to leave the front one to the "early riser" with the dog (thanks for the invitation to dinner!).
I was surprised that I was alone at first, when I think of the overcrowded winter room of the Wilhelm Busch Hut on October 3rd, 2011.

On the way to the Hochfeiler I counted 52 hikers and 2 ice climbers (who climbed from the other side), apparently all of them directly from the parking lot as a day trip!

This is not an after-work tour! Nevertheless, the hiking trail from the Hochpfeiler parking lot in the Pfitschtal to the hut is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful in the region. The variety of the landscape on the way up and the diversity of the flora and fauna are worth highlighting. The steady climb over 7.5 km with only a few steep, sweaty passages is pleasant. Nevertheless, surefootedness, good fitness and a head for heights are required. Don't forget your fleece and windstopper jacket and pants!

The Hochfeilerhütte is a modern hut with a winter room. Coming from the direction of the Pfitschtal, you don't see it until quite late. The service is friendly and competent - it's no problem to get directions. The food and drinks are delicious. The surroundings are breathtaking.
