                  At around three kilometers wide and 20 kilometers long, the De Maasduinen National Park forms the longest inland dune belt in the Netherlands. These beautiful flying sand dunes mostly lie along the section of the national park around the Reindersmeer on the east side of the two lakes. The Reindersmeer is an artificial lake created by sand and gravel ablation. In addition to the dune landscape in the east, the two lakes are still surrounded by forest, heaths and bogs, which are currently partly dry due to the persistent warm weather, so that the frogs that used to be heard here now had to dodge further towards the lake.
