Red House in Vaduz
The Red House, a stepped gable house with an attached residential tower and wine press building, is located in the middle of Vaduz.
The "Red House" was built in 1338 and got its name from the dark red paintwork of the house. This red coloring has been evident since the middle of the 19th century. A previous building was demolished in the 15th century at the latest. It has had several owners over the years, including the St. Johann monastery.
The residential tower is four stories high and has an almost square floor plan. It is topped off with a slightly bent pyramid roof. The exterior facade of the ground floor and the first two floors are made of bare and uncut natural stone, while the fourth floor is plastered and has beveled tower corners.
It has been owned by the Rheinberger family since 1807. The painter, sculptor and architect expanded the house from 1902 to 1905.
