    Yad Vashem is located on Har Zikaron, the Mountain of Remembrance. The memorial deals with the Holocaust and its consequences. Various memorials commemorate the victims. I find the children's memorial particularly impressive. Here, discs multiply the light of a single candle into thousands of lights. In the oppressive atmosphere, a voice reads out the names of murdered children. But the Avenue of the Righteous is also part of Yad Vashem. The Righteous Among the Nations are honored here, such as Oskar Schindler, who helped those persecuted under Nazi rule and thereby demonstrated their humanity. The Valley of the Communities illustrates how Jewish communities were wiped out all over Europe. It is good and easy to spend a whole day here. There are changing art exhibitions, a media center, the archive and of course the permanent exhibition in the triangular main building that cuts through the rock. You get the most out of visiting the exhibition with a guided tour, but otherwise at least rent an audio guide.
