The sculptor Hansjörg Wagner created this statue in 1986, The Zitronenjette was selling its goods on the streets of Hamburg's Neustadt and St. Paulis at the end of the 19th century. Johanne Henriette Marie Müller, her real name, was born on July 18, 1841 and died on July 8, 1916. Even as a child, when she lived with her family in one of the poor Gängeviertel, she had to make a living. She subsequently gained fame through the famous play. In 1986, a memorial to Zitronenjette was erected near the Michel (St. Michael's Church) and the Krameramtsstuben (Cramer's Office). It was created by the sculptor Hansjörg Wagner.
