    The PWV knight stone ruin Buchbacherhof refers to a former large courtyard. The houses and lands were sold to the state, the land was poor and inferior. Only a few sparse foundations can still be seen. Today there is a refugio on this spot.

      Next to the ruins of the old Buchbacherhof, there is a shelter here, the “Hut of German-French Friendship”, which is open and contains a brand new seating area (as of August 2023). - My own guess: This lonely hut probably dates back to the time when the Mundat Forest still belonged to France (until 1986) and the German-French border ran further north than it does today.

      To reach the hut and Ritterstein directly, KOMOOT unfortunately only shows impassable paths that are almost overgrown or full of fallen trees. If you want to avoid this, you should take the wide forestry path (“Buchbachweg”), which passes near the hut. A little further below Hütte and Ritterstein runs the Buchbach (->Heiligenbach->Lauter), which gave this place its name.
