      "... The village of Süchterscheid is already located to the west of the Lindscheid in Hennef Land. In the late Middle Ages, a certain pilgrimage tourism developed here after a Bertram from Nesselrode left some areas of land for use around the existing chapel.
      The pilgrimage chapel in Süchterscheid was particularly popular during the turmoil of the Thirty Years' War, because miraculous healings were reported. In 1957-58, a modern new building was built, including the choir of the old chapel, reminding architectural experts of Le Corbusier's pilgrimage church in Ronchamps.
      Opposite the imposing pilgrimage church is a small chapel donated by Johann Theodor Bärenklau in 1681. Since Bärenklau was pastor in the city of Blankenberg, it is also called the Blankenberg Chapel. The simple quarry stone building houses a small wooden Vesper picture from around 1460.
      To the southeast of Süchterscheid, in a lonely meadow valley by the Ravensteiner Bach, the remains of an earlier hilltop castle, a so-called moth, can be found. Today the gentle elevation in the valley floor and parts of the old wall with moat are still preserved. ... "
