The landmark of the town of Bad Bibra, the Gesundbrunnen, stands on the bathing area and is an impressive testimony to the town's spa tradition.
Sponsored by the dukes of Saxony-Weißenfels, it was first captured in 1686.
From 1779 the Badehausstein was the entrance portal to the source.
The inscription on the stone - adorned with an electoral hat and coat of arms - translates into German:
"To the glory of God (who makes you healthy), the most noble Elector of Saxony, Friedrich August, the Titus of our age, surrounded these healing waters, which the blessed Johann Adolph had taken in 1684 and the blessed Christian had purified in 1728, with this wall in 1777."
