Gloriously sited between the ridgy splendour of An Teallach and the rough wildness of the Fisherfield Munros, Beinn Dearg Mor is a mountain worthy of adoration. Compact but spectacular, it holds its own in a place of remarkable beauty. Climb it with Beinn Dearg Bheag and stay at Shenavall bothy for a stunning mountain adventure.

Beinn Dearg Mòr and its twin near neighbour Beinn Dearg Bheag dominate the view across Strath na Sealga from Shenavall Bothy. These are hard won Corbetts, every approach being steep and tough but they are very well worth it. There are no real paths here, you must plan your own route.

Beinn Dearg Mor is the most prized of the Corbetts as it takes a real effort to reach it, and it is such a fine mountain. The views all round are exceptional, such as this view across to it's bigger neighbour An Teallach. In the opposite direction you look into the heart of the Great Wilderness and the fabled mountains there. The structure of this mountain is amazing, sheer sandstone cliffs that drop almost 3000 feet to the valley floor. A wonderful place, and one that I am glad I finally reached nearly 30 years after I first set eyes on it across the Loch na Sealga valley from the summit of An Teallach. ...And being the Great Wilderness, I had the mountain all to myself!
