The printing company founded in 1889 published the first edition of the "Hettstedter Zeitung" in the same year. Their printing was discontinued in 1941 and there is a continuation of the book printing Heise as a commercial printer. On 15.02.2001 the association "Old Hettstedter Druckerei Heise e.V." was founded with the aim to revive the printing house for museum purposes. This was followed by a refurbishment of the printing office building and the restoration of the machines for re-installation and demonstration at their stands in the setting, printing and stereotyping. Both the building and the printing equipment are listed buildings. The printing house is located near the market, opposite the bus station.
